The container project was initiated in 2016 as a way to rescue and re-purpose 28 large decorative urns and one 306 sq ft. permanent concrete architectural wall garden that are the property of The Landings Club. A Garden Club member noticed on her evening walks that many of these containers were either empty or in poor condition. She met with the Executive Director of The Landings Club and discussed her ideas of creating a partnership with The Landings Garden Club to design and maintain the urns.  We now have five teams and 18 garden club members dubbed “Urn Angels” that design, install, and maintain the plants and flowers.  In one location, we have three large urns devoted to growing herbs and a variety of edibles used by the kitchen staff from that particular venue.   This project has been so successful that the Landings Club gifted purple aprons printed with “Landings Garden Club Urn Angels” to honor the volunteers who work this project.
